Where is my traffic coming from?

Today, July 25, 2008 I’ll check every aspect of my websites. I want to compare changes over time, eventually make some statistics, charts; first I will create a table, so we can see better all differences between the two blogs.

So, as you can see, even if stylishdesign.com is much much older then maxwebdesign.eu, and according to Technorati is better, traffic facts shows that Stylishdesign.com is weaker then Maxwebdesign.eu.

So far I did not try any form of monetization… besides Adsense, but that is insignificant to be mentioned.

You know… as I told you before that I read a lot about how to archive traffic and many blog owners, webmasters came up with a lot of solutions.

Let me tell what SEO techniques have i used during time:

  • I tried not to have duplicate content but sometime this criteria can be frustrating because I had to copy/paste a phrase or two as quoted. Yes, I mentioned the source.
  • I used All in One SEO pack plugin.
  • I created a robots.txt file which right now contains these restrictions:

User-agent: *

Disallow: /tag/

Disallow: /disclosure-policy/

Disallow: /about/

Disallow: /contact/

Disallow: /wp-content/

Disallow: /feed/

Disallow: /comments/feed/

Disallow: /*?

Disallow: /*?*

Basically my robots.txt file tells to web spiders not to follow the specified pages, feeds and tags. In a blog counts only the posts and the homepage. That’s a real blog. I we think a bit an internal page contains fragments from the blog posts… and that’s duplicate content. Right?

  • I submitted my blogs to a few web directories.
  • I got reviewed by some blogs.
  • I played with the nofollow tag to push the value of the page rank on my homepage.

I will start to write “link bait” posts but I can’t do it with the frequency other bloggers do it because i don’t like the idea.

  • I tried to use the most relevant keywords in my posts, title and descriptions and the ALT tags of the inserted pictures. Since a while.
